The Kent family has pioneered beyond the original Chateau d’Yquem plantings that have made the region’s Sauvignon Blanc famous since the dawn of the American wine industry, by planting the rare “musque” clone, creating aromatically evocative Sauvignon Blanc.
An equally careful attention to clonal selection for Cabernet Franc has proven that Livermore’s gravel terroir is its perfect growing place.
Fifth generation vintner and artist, Darcie Kent, lives by the motto, “celebrate art, wine, and the natural world.”
Darcie’s ancestors set up one of the first wineries in America outside of St. Louis, Missouri, back in the 1875 when the area was an emerging wine country. In the 1990s, Darcie dreamed of re-starting the family legacy in Livermore, California, just outside of San Francisco. She, her husband Dave, and two young children purchased a small vineyard and eventually built a house.
Today, Darcie lives surrounded by the beautiful rolling foothills, vineyards, and animals that inspire her paintings. Her family grows 100% of the grapes that go into their wines, which are also barreled, bottled and produced at their small winery across the road. Darcie and Dave walk the vineyards every day they are home.
